As many of you have become aware the search for captivating releases that blow one's mind is an endless quest. It can be real hard to keep up with the multitude of releases that flood the dance music scene. I believe that every artist deserves a chance to express themselves musically thus releasing their work without sheer amounts of pressure when the time is most right. 

 The end of the year marked one of Landscapes Music's finest releases, an ode if you will to the final days of 2023. This release comes to us from Singaporean artist "TONY HANG", who has become known for his uplifting trance tendencies within his productions. For this release he decided to take on another guise and re-introduce himself to us under another alias, one craving a deeper, progressive, more underground sound: "ALT MODE". This new creation has been dubbed "Before The Dawn", most appropriate as you will soon see.

 Bubbling underwater sounds are joined together with proggy synths and a sturdy bassline that hums away accordingly. Nature infused melodies and buzzing effects are also present, instilling an essence of serenity and tranquility one may encounter on a lonely hike up the misty mountains, surrounded by babbling streams and nature's everlasting wonders. An assortment of acids add an extra dosage of mischief to the tune as the break arrives in perfect timing. Melodies sparkling with wonder can be found there accompanied by ongoing waves of refreshing beauty and gentle piano segments, giving us all a chance to breathe in the wondrous world around us, before the track resumes its adventurous state and the climb itself is resumed once more.

The Boy From The Future- The Day You Will See The Light (Foxhill Remix) [Landscapes Music]

 

As spring fades away and summer approaches you may wonder if the artists affected by the change in weather increase their productivity and motivation towards the perfection of their craft. I for one believe so and this release presented here is a prime example of that fact. 

 A label that seems to value quality over quantity is without a doubt "Landscapes Music", a small but passionate label that has been certainly been shaking up things in the dance music world. Their latest release sees the re-imagining of "The Day You Will See The Light", created by mysterious artist "The Boy From The Future", an artist whose identity has steadily eluded us. For the task at hand the label was thrilled to enlist the glorious talent of "Foxhill", known for his magnanimous releases on labels such as "Solarstone's" "Pure Trance". "Foxhill" has indeed demonstrated his production abilities in re-shaping and re-forging the beloved tune.

 We instantly discover that the original elements are highlighted and complemented with loving care while incorporating a dreamy atmosphere, an almost "sundown like" essence to the main melody which is subtly complemented by the throbbing bassline and the appearance of lush pads. A calming wave of serenity and reassurance washes over us all derived from the break itself. When we emerge from the break of utter tranquility we feel revived, refreshed, renewed while carried away by the soothing progression of the leads. 

 A brilliant remix that will work wonders for one's inner peace and state of mind! Exceptional work from the one and only "Foxhill"!

It is always a special moment for a record label when they reach a milestone. In this case the very promising label "Landscapes Music", is proud to celebrate their fiftieth release., a highlight not to be taken lightly and so it had to be a very special release indeed! "Lights Off" by the mysterious artist "The Boy From The Future" is granted another life, revived and sent out into the world anew! Remixed and reworked to his heart's content by none other than the label boss himself "Horizons", the result could not be more fitting. As the title describes it is a real voyage into the darker territories of the genre.

 Welcome to the underground! Deep, abysmal, "out there" melodies are forged in the deep cavernous spaces as curious effects add an extra hint of mystery, alongside an otherworldly essence conjured up by an ensemble of cosmic voices playing side by side with the steady bassline that holds it all together like the finest glue. A very unique approach for a tune that shares infinite amounts of darkness and mystery tying it up quite exquisitely with a cosmic, celestial, spacial essence!

Dark Matter-Dragons Tear (Thomas Datt Third Eye Activation Remix) [Landscapes Music]

 

After a significant amount of absence from the scene, prolific dance music artist "Thomas Datt", marks his imminent return on none other than label on the rise (as I have stated many times before), "Landscapes Music". This is a label heralded by none other than Shyamol Maracci (HORIZONS). Thomas decided it was definitely time to emerge back into the scene, leaving his musical stamp on one of the label's finest releases from the past, the incredible "Dragons Tear" by Danish DJ/Producer "Dark Matter", also known as "Dreamy Dawn". In doing so he brought forth all of his wisdom and experience that he has gained over the years, bringing forward his newly found inner peace and in turn found a way to transmit all of this into the remix you have before you. He dubbed it "Third Eye Activation Remix", a title aptly suited as you will quickly witness.

 We are instantly greeted with magical, mystifying melodies, fresh and vibrant as can be, soul cleansing if you will, as the rest of the elements get to work like a well oiled machine in the background. Acid lines and squelches make their appearance leaving an Earthly attribute as to not get carried away swiftly into the heavenly atmosphere that begins to form. Melodies loaded with an inner calmness follow as images of warm delicate sunlight pierce a quiet, sleepy forest bringing forth a sort of radiance and splendor to the landscape itself. The cheerful leads follow suit enhancing the atmosphere further adding an extra dosage of joy and an emotional "happy to be alive" element that really brings this tune to new heights. Healing, powerful music that will undoubtedly begin a healing process within each individual listener through serene, flawless and rejuvenating beats! A great step forward for "Thomas Datt", who constantly delivers an essence of undeniable quality to the tunes or remixes he has put his touch on.

2022 so far has been a year of new opportunities, a downpour of new and exceptional music and of course the slow and steady ascend of new artists in the scene that we all are enamored with. It has also seen the return and welcome revival of our favorite tunes from the past. A tune that had definitely received loads of attention and praise when it was released a couple years ago was undoubtedly "Dusk Over Puerto Princesa", by Italian DJ/Producer and label owner of "LANDSCAPES MUSIC", Shyamol Maracci, better known under his artist name "HORIZONS". This tune has been reshaped and re imagined once more under the watchful eye and precise ear of a talented producer that answers to the name "NAREL". This new forged outing and reinterpretation of the beloved track is out now on the original artist's home label itself "LANDSCAPES MUSIC".

 The lush, magical and dreamy recognizable vibes of the original are here in all their glory, spliced up magnificently by the artist at work. A thorough and clairvoyant approach into the future, fine tuned for 2022. The listener is easily engaged in the melodious nature of the tune at hand and ongoing majestic theme it encapsulates, as a vibrant feeling of splendor is ever present throughout it all. Magnanimous remix attempt in keeping the track present, fresh and innovative, something that is without a doubt much needed in the world we inhabit today. In the final month of last year, one of dance music's upcoming and most promising labels "Landscapes Music" ushered in a final release to bid farewell to a most fruitful year music wise. This release was created by none other than the founder and owner of the label himself, Shyamol Maracci. Best known under his artist name "HORIZONS", he is an artist known for showcasing beautiful scenery and landscapes for that matter, throughout his aural productions, the artist name he chose for himself could not be more fitting. Surely one familiar with his work can recognize his expertise in all of his eclectic releases. His latest musical outing is on home label "Landscapes Music" and is dubbed "Night On Fraser Island" part of the "Australia EP".

 An air of evident mystery can be found encircling this majestic offering, as darker undertones solidify the tune's stunning presence. Ethereal melodies ascend with the highest grace from the tune's grave foundations. A perfect harmony of layers in which every element complements its siblings accordingly, thus forming a window through the sound barriers, a glimpse into an isle of infinite beauty. "Fraser Island" appears to be a truly magical place wrought with joy, heart stopping scenery and breathtaking views. The splendor of nature and the awe factor are ever so present here, demonstrated exquisitely through the artist's musical touch.

 Another beauty of a tune crafted from the "Landscapes Music's" main man. Great way to send off the year and usher in the new one full of promise and hope within one's heart!

There is always a special feeling of excitement when one sees a forthcoming release on the horizon by "Landscapes Music". As mentioned in previous reviews the good folks at the label have a keen eye or ear for that matter, of scoping out the freshest new tunes that easily stand out amongst so many in the vast ocean of releases throughout the scene. The latest artist to join in the fun is a total mystery to us. He or she goes under the "Trance.com" pseudonym. A marvelous E.P has been brought forth packed with two exceptional tracks that will undoubtedly send you back in time, making you savor those treasured dance music memories of yesteryear. Let's have a look within shall we?

 "2002": Imagine vibrant basslines, lush melodies and a complementary percussion highlighted by hypnotic leads and an atmosphere packed with epic tendencies. A special treat are an assortment of vocalized synths similar to those found in past productions by "Andy Moor" and "Above & Beyond". Mesmerizing, deep, driving tuneage that invokes visions of splendor and feelings of curiosity, awe and full on emotion all wrapped up in one magical package.

 "TRANCEDOTCom": This one takes things towards an alternate route. One that is a tad darker and edgier than its predecessor. A characteristic groove is set by an ominous melody that continues to build throughout the track while dark, dramatic leads, spooky effects and a driving bassline set the tone. Creepy creature-like vox can be heard in the mix emphasizing on the atmosphere and essence of the track itself. Powerful, magnificent and atmospheric all in one.

Each tune complements one another containing similarities but also differences much like opposite sides of the same coin. A dark versus light contrast if you will. This whole E.P is a fantastic attempt of reviving the pure essence of what trance means to us all. I for one applaud the mysterious artist for the insight into the genre and the hearts of the trance music faithful.

If you have been frequently following my reviews then you are certainly aware of the respect I hold for smaller labels and artists who are trying to achieve their well deserved attention. One of the labels that has been making waves of its very own in the dance music scene is "Landscapes Music". I have covered quite a few of their releases as they always find the way to amaze with the sheer quality of their work and artists they showcase. 

 This time I set my sights and ears for that matter on the brand new single by the "Landscapes Music" owner himself, Shyamol Maracci. He frequently demonstrates his production skills under his artist name "Horizons". His new single is called "Pokhara@Dawn" and what a stunner it is!

 The kicks and bassline quickly set the pace of what lies ahead while the rest of the key elements fall into place. An assortment of finely chosen effects add to the heightening of the senses as a unique fusion of mystical, epic yet motivational melodies slide make their appearance. 'Tis without a doubt an aural journey into some of the places less traveled in our miraculous, mystifying world we all inhabit. 

 Visions of hiking through broken down trails come to mind, as we eagerly make our way towards the mountain top. Birds begin their morning songs hidden in their own world, tucked away beyond the dark trees, giving us a serenade of their very own while we inhale the crisp mountain air. Once we reach the summit, the view we witness is incredible. We are quickly filled with a proud sense of accomplishment as we gaze upon the world below. The sun begins to make its appearance shyly in this forgotten corner of the world and an instant flooding of serenity encircles us. 

 This is an artist that has often taken us on a musical journey to places unknown and does so once more, giving us a glimpse into a world very few of us have had the opportunity to lay eyes upon!

Meanda-Far Away E.P [Landscapes Music]

 

"Landscapes Music" is a label that purely focuses on releasing a selective amount of musical material, never going for a truckload of releases at a time. Each release is carefully selected to fit the label's perspective and view in the elaborate world of electronic dance music. The label's A&R happens to be Austrian producer "Meanda" and when not shifting through demos he of course works on his own original music, which has a distinct character and sound to it. His brand new E.P lands on home turf and is quite the spectacle as you will quickly realize. His new E.P contains the original and an alternate version of his track "Far Away" which you will undoubtedly devour in one take.

 Eerie melodies are expertly paired up among fire forged subterranean basslines, water-like droplets,curious effects and moody grooves with a minimalist junglesque percussion lurking in the background like a wretched fiend out to strike when no one is aware. A marvelous fusion of dark, monochrome grooves which originate in the progressive territory, alongside stripped back rhythms that appear in the futuristic palettes of techno which instill chills and thrills throughout the deepest depths of the listener's soul. 

 The alternate edition of this tune is dubbed "Find Yourself version". It contains several similarities to the original, building on the foundations of its originator while emphasizing on extra amounts of drama via its lead synths, its sleek progression and its reinvented hypnotic basslines.

 An adventure like no other unfolds as we make our way into the darkest depths and underbelly of our world. An exploration within lost caverns long abandoned where darkness lies, crystals form like long lost jewels and stalactites hang from the ceiling as if representing the fancy crystal chandeliers of old. The echo of water trickling down the crevices can be heard in the distance as we move on armed with courage, a flaming torch, curiosity and a rising feeling of adventure that begins rippling through our skin.

This talented producer is back showcasing the progressive sound he has become known for, if you have been digging deep through the "Landscapes" releases. His new single is titled "The Day You Will See The Light" and it is out now.

 This futuristic inhabitant brings forth solid progressive grooves fortified by lush vibes and an onspray of positivity and promise demonstrated through the expert use of steadfast percussion, minimal use of effects and a more than welcome downpour of illuminated melodies, which surely bring a glimmer of hope, shining light into the darkest and most abandoned of places. Images come to life within one's mind of lands long dark and forgotten, at last gaining the gift of the ever nurturing sun upon the fertile soil. We all stare and marvel at the glory of nature as new life is sprung from the ashes. A reminder to humanity that no matter how hard things may get hope is always lurking around the corner.
