KaNa-Episode 12 [Snow Freques]

 

 

There is much beauty in the world as there is darkness. Music has the undeniable power of expressing loads of emotions which could come from either a dark place or a light one depending on the occasion. Dance music producers have the ability to convey a plethora of moods into their music according to their current state of mind, recent or past experiences. A dance music artist that has left a profound mark in the scene, as she ascends each year via her productions and DJ skills  is "KaNa" from the modern, yet in many ways traditional, faraway land of Japan. Her latest offering to the scene is the "Episode 12" E.P, released on her own label "Snow Freques". Each release comes to us with a beautiful, unique artwork set in the Japanese manga style, crafted and designed by Kana Ijuin herself. This release contains two special tracks that will definitely move you beyond words!

"PKG": A playful percussion sets things off in the right mood, as an aura of tranquil melodies comes settling in. The turbulent bassline comes marching in, bringing with it a delightful medley of melodies, much like the eloquent dance of falling leaves on a crisp Autumn day. Harmonious moments arise, all the while decorated by sounds of nature and the faraway calls of birds of the wild. Delicate melodic tones appear in the break like a gust of unpredictable wind, enhancing and spreading the feeling of serenity furthermore alongside the rest of the key elements. After the break the track resumes its course while its beauty unfolds instilling moments of peace and grandeur within us all.

"Translucence": Booming basslines synced accordingly with the appropriate percussion start the game off in a positive manner. Meticulous, joyful melodies doused with effects and buzzing semi-distorted synths shake things up as if arousing the populous from one's daily slumber. The tune contains an inner innocence displayed beautifully through the intricate, luscious melodies while struggling with its tendency for mischief tucked in snugly in the buzzing synth motions described above. The joy, innocence and tranquility return in all their glory within the break while the rushing of a cooling stream can be heard from afar. The might and energy make their imminent escape through the build of the track, spreading joy and sunshine via the upbeat leads and mesmerizing melodies. 

A marvelous package of tunes for every occasion! Another wonderful and innovating release by the one and only "KaNa"! Seek it out and achieve inner harmony!

KaNa-Episode 10 [Snow Freques]

 

The whole beauty of the dance music world is the utter realization that new artists emerge out of the woodwork and arise, blooming like the rarest flowers, bringing their own vibrancy, color and scent to the world, thus enriching the already fruitful array of endless music alongside the established favorite artists of yesteryear. One of these artists hails from the land of the rising sun, a true artist who is passionate for her work, creating truly beautiful tracks while baring her soul unto the world! "KaNa" has illuminated our world with her vast array of releases always bringing something new and special to the scene. Her new E.P dubbed "Episode 10" is released on her home label "Snow Freques" and consists of four tracks each with their own significance and importance. Let's have a look within shall we?

"Play Of Colour" has that beloved melodic house essence to it that was championed around 2006 by the likes of "Tiesto" on albums such as the iconic "In Search Of Sunrise: Los Angeles". Melodic bliss, light percussion and a relaxed, feel good vibe unfolds complete with ethereal melodic droplets and lush piano medleys that can be found tucked away in the break of the tune. All this carries us away into a sea of serenity and infinite harmony.

"Play Of Colour (Meloless Mix)" is an alternative take on the previous tune as you may easily discover. This one stays relatively true to the original's tendencies while slightly altering a few of the elements, giving it a more organic dance music approach.

"Cosmoclock 21 (Kyohei Akagawa Remix)" is a track that was already included on the previous release by "KaNa" which was was well received by the public. No surprise that artists would be interested in giving their take on the beloved track. First in line is "Kyohei Akagawa". His version of the track slows things down a tad while focusing on the lush melodies and tranquil state while mixing it up with a kind of a breakbeatish attitude. Lush and fierce patterns of sound clash as if competing against each other. The easily recognizable chopped vox from the original are here as well adding a bit of mischief to the tune itself. An original approach by Kyohei.

"Adularescence" is the final track of the package. Percussion plays a big role here shaking things up while the rhythmical bassline sets the tone. Glass-like melodies flutter in and out alongside passionate sun drenched melodies and classical strings which add the appropriate dosage of drama to the mix. Audio fragments of nature add a peaceful essence to the tune giving it a definite blissful state. Fond memories of a joyous time in nature are surely evident here. Harmonious, beautiful, serene!

Something for everyone here, "KaNa" has certainly been inspired!

KaNa-Episode 09 [Snow freques]

 

Winter may officially be here, but by no means does it stall the steady blossoming and ultimate fruition of the future works of the many talented artists out there! The latest divine release that has come to my attention comes to us from the land of the rising sun! Japanese DJ/Producer "KaNa" has returned with a fresh E.P dubbed "Snow Freques Episode 09". Her last release was eagerly devoured by the fans, seems this one will take things two steps further!

 "Cosmoclock 21": This is definitely the rowdier sibling of the bunch! Darker synths, stripped back vox and aggressive, semi distorted grungy grooves are all here staking their claim. The break brings forward elements of a clock ticking time away as time appears to always be a force against us, accentuated by lush melodies and playful female vocal fragments that seem to take flight, joining on a slow dance of their very own just as the groove comes sliding in through open doors. Dominated by pounding basslines, riveting leads and grunting synths much like before, taking charge on its never ending race towards the future! Large and in charge! Explosive number for the clubs!

 "Consequence": This one tones things down a tad, being the more tranquil of the siblings. Progressive grooves lay the base of the tune as crystal-like serene melodies shine through like the sun on a winter's day. Buzzing synths add an extra flair and dosage of drama to the mix while our mind wanders off to a long lost forest up high in the mountains while melodies derived from a flute and decorated by crisp vocal segments mesmerize us all, instilling an instant gratification of a newfound inner peace!

KaNa has demonstrated once more why she is the next big thing to emerge from Japan! This E.P contains something for every dance music fan out there!

KaNa-Episode 08 [Snow freques]

 

The discovery of new artists in the dance music field brings a great joy to us music fiends. As an artist times can be difficult, especially when faced with the constant struggle of breaking through and begin gaining their own following. Our duty is and should be to help push talented artists and therefore their music into the forefront of the scene. I recently had the pleasure of discovering a producer from Japan who by all means lets her passion guide her, fuel her and focuses adamantly on the perfection of her craft. She goes by the name of "KaNa" and has just unleashed a fresh E.P ("Episode 08") into the open. This E.P consists of two very special tracks: "LuMina" and "Still Light". Let's take the plunge into this wonderful new E.P shall we?

 "LuMina": A light , playful percussion opens up this tune with grace, as a tranquil atmosphere begins to form all around it as if enveloping it with a sudden warmth. Distant bird calls, gentle melodic droplets and a warm bassline, like the setting sun tie it all together beautifully. Mind pleasing melodies arise within the break of the tune as a sort of paradisial atmosphere looms all over. An evident aura of bliss, magic and inner peace can definitely be spotted here while listening to this exquisite number. 

 "Still Light": Effervescent melodies are at the core of this one while the sturdy bassline is at work, keeping things running like a fine tuned timepiece. Enthusiastic leads charge forward, sprinkled vivaciously with an assortment of bright sound effects and small choir segments. A bright, positive atmosphere is gradually created here as an imagery of golden rays of sun shining down on the barely movable surface of the serene pools of water below. Life carries on undisturbed as nature continues to prove itself as a place of solace and self discovery! Another magical tune that will continue on the spiritual healing of its predecessor! 

Dance music for your body, mind and soul. Soothing, magical beats that will extinguish any anxieties obtained during the labors of our everyday life! "KaNa" proves she deserves a place in the dance music scene that we all love and cherish. Her new E.P is evidence enough of an artist that has the gift and sheer talent of transporting you away to foreign lands with lush, serene landscapes formed by her very own mind and hands. Definitely one to look out for!
